Meet Lauren White: The Motivational Speaker Who Took No Shortcuts

How did your early experiences or background contribute to your decision to enter this field?

My early experiences of getting sober and turning my life around are the reasons why I do what I do today. Most of my purpose centers on helping people escape self-sabotage, reflect on their lives, and believe that they can change if they truly want to. This realization came to me when I left rehab and began sharing my journey of recovery and addiction with schools at the age of 19.

How did you deal with skepticism or doubt from others when you started your journey?

When you don’t follow a traditional path, people often start to judge you. I moved to Hong Kong for a job, became self-employed, and focused on living life for myself rather than for others. A lot of people doubted me, but over time, they realized it was the only path that would truly make me happy.

What were the most valuable lessons you learned from your first success?

I learned that money doesn’t make you happy and that you will inevitably be let down by others, but that’s okay as long as you have your own back. I also discovered that failure is what drives you even more, and it’s inevitable.

In what ways are you pushing the boundaries of your field with your current endeavors?

By staying authentic to myself and not pretending that my life is perfect. I don't want to hide my flaws or think I'm above anyone else. I aim to normalize the conversation and help people understand that we're all just figuring it out as we go.

What are the most common mistakes you see aspiring artists make, and how can they avoid them?

Letting people get to them and fame get to them.
