“If you don’t know what to pursue in life right now, pursue yourself. Pursue becoming the healthiest, happiest, most healed, most present, most confident, version of yourself.” I didn’t know what I wanted to do after high school. I changed my program 4 times and ended up in a career doing something completely different. Spent 7 years climbing the corporate ladder to quit and begin my own business at 30. You may not ever have all the answers, but just trust the process. Everything will work out for you, I promise.

Was there a particular piece of advice or encouragement that pushed you to follow your passion?
"If you can work hard for someone else, you can work hard for yourself." I’ve always been a top performer in the corporate world. By stepping into management, I was searching for fulfillment in my day job. However, it wasn’t until I began managing my husband’s wedding business, Big City Night Band, during my off hours that I realized the wedding industry is where I truly belong.
What was the most unexpected challenge you faced early on, and how did you address it?
In the beginning of my journey, I learned that in today’s world, everything related to your business needs to be documented. I taught myself SEO, digital content creation, and social media management. This led to being noticed and hired to manage Instagram accounts. As inquiries for my husband’s band and my services began to roll in, time became a precious resource. Balancing everything with my day job was exhausting, and I found myself only giving 50% to everything I was doing. I knew I had to make a change, which led me to take the risk of leaving my corporate job.
How did your success change your perspective on your work and your future goals?
I used to think small, but that mindset kept me small. I was always taught to be realistic, aim for stability, and maintain consistency. My own success showed me that I needed to dream big to achieve big, and that the larger the risk, the larger the reward. I am still realistic, stable, and consistent in my efforts, but now on a much greater scale.
What are some unique aspects of your current projects that differentiate them from others in the field?
Along with planning and designing luxury weddings and events, I offer behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage and content creation for my clients, which is provided the very next day! This service has been in high demand and sets MODERN.Chic Events apart from other event companies.
What are the best ways to overcome setbacks and failures?
Learn from everything. Take the lessons as they come and use them to improve next time. Stay consistent in your practice and use challenges as motivation. Do your absolute best, and know that if something is meant for you, it will be yours.
